Interview with Charlotte Haas – Director of Operations

Interviewer: How did you find yourself working with West Virginia Public Theatre?

Charlotte: I am a former student of our Artistic Director, Jerry McGonigle. As WVPT was reinventing itself, I asked him how things were going. He said they were moving along but their Director of Operations and Marketing was moving to the West Coast and asked if I could help them get through their holiday show. In short order I found myself working for WVPT.

Interviewer: What is your favorite thing about your role?

Charlotte: My favorite thing about my role is being part of developing a local, responsible, and sustainable arts non-profit which helps artists gain experience, and empowers them to grow. I am grateful for the opportunity to create art rooted in a local community.

Interviewer: Why do you think theatre is important to the Morgantown community?

Charlotte: I think theatre is important to every community because it tells stories that matter, gives patrons the opportunity to empathize with a diverse range of people together with others, and deepens their understanding of themselves and the world around them, and can be great fun. I believe having a professional theatre in Morgantown adds to the city’s vitality and quality of life.

Interviewer: Do you have a favorite moment from a workday at West Virginia Public Theatre?

Charlotte: My favorite moments have been hearing how our shows have brought joy, and renewal to people’s lives.

Interviewer: What has been your favorite performance?

Charlotte: I can’t pick a favorite performance performances because each one is unique.

Interviewer: What is your WVPT Season Wishlist?

Charlotte: WVPT is a wonderful local treasure. I hope more people will discover its value, and find it in their hearts to donate to our mission.

Interviewer: Without giving away too much away, what can our readers expect from WVPT in the following season?

Charlotte: I hope patrons will find the coming season attractive, fun, and thought-provoking.
